Four persons killed in fighting in Grozny

            Four persons, including a young woman, are killed on the night of January 15 in the city of Grozny as a result of a clash between employees of local power structures and participants of armed formations. The incident occurred in Leninski district of Grozny.

Employees of the republican OMON (Special Police Force) and other divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs blocked a group of militants in one of the private houses. During long-continued fighting all of them were killed. One of the employees of the OMON participating in the special operation was wounded as well.

A woman’s corpse was found among the deceased persons. According to the available information, currently identity of one of the killed persons is established. It is Uvais Tachiev, which is considered by law enforcers as one of the middle commanders. The surnames of the others are being established.

Attack on law enforcers near Sharo-Argun

            Late night on the 13 of January, in a large forest in the vicinity of the village of Sharo-Argun of Shatoiski district unknown persons fired from automatic weapons at employees of militia and militaries conducting «special operation». As a result of this attack, one militiaman has been killed. At least, one more employee of law enforcement bodies received a gunshot wound.

The information on it is received from an inhabitant of Sharo-Argun. The circumstances of the incident and the surname of killed and wounded militiamen are being established.

 «Address special operation» in Starye Atagi

            According to the information received from local residents, on the 10th of January in the village of Starye Atagi of Groznenski district during the so-called "address cleaning up operation" employees of power structures detained and took away to unknown direction a young man. The circumstances of the incident and the surname of the arrested person are being established.

Local resident disappeared in Grozny

            On the 26th of December in the city of Grozny in unclear circumstances a local resident Alikhan Khamchiev, an armless disabled, has disappeared. As it became known from friends of the young man, in the morning of that day he had left the house to go to Starye Atagi and had not returned.

Last time he was seen in the area of the bus-station "Southern". Searches of the disappeared person undertaken by his relatives have not given any results.

Local resident detained in Gudermes district

Several days ago in Gudermes district workers of law enforcement bodies detained the 17-years local resident. The detainee was accused of aiding and abetting militants.

This information was obtained from one of the local residents. The surname of the arrested person is not provided due to the request of the source.

Late night on the 8th of January, on the outskirts of the settlement of Nesterovskaya of Ingushetia’s Sunzhenski district unknown persons fired from automatic weapons at two vehicles "Niva" with employees of militia. As a result of this attack, one officer was killed, and one more received a heavy gunshot wound and was hospitalized. Their surnames are being established. (Information Release № 1196 dated 9 January 2008).

As it became known today, during the attack on employees of law enforcement bodies near Nesterovskay the major of militia Ali Shadnev has been killed.
