Militiaman wounded in Dai

            At night on 17 May, in the village of Dai of Shatoiski district a group of unknown persons opened fire from automatic weapons at a building of the local police. This information was received from residents of the village.

            According to the available information, approximately at 11:30 pm., unknown people opened shooting at windows of the building of the territorial police station. As a result of bombardment, one local policeman received wounds and was hospitalized.

Attackers managed to escape to unknown direction. Their searches undertaken by employees of law-enforcement structures have not brought any results. The surname of the wounded militiaman is being established.

Woman’s body found in Grozny’s Leninski district

            According to one of the inhabitants of the city of Grozny, on the previous day, in a shed of an abandoned house on Bolshaya street of Leninski district a corpse of an unknown woman with signs of beatings was found. Identity of the killed person, according to him, is not established.

According to some information, later employees of militia detained a young man suspected in fulfillment of this murder.

Attack on checkpoint in Assinovskaya

            On the night of May 15, on the outskirts of the village of Assiniovskaya of Sunzhenski district a group of armed persons moving on 4 vehicles of "UAZ" opened fire from automatic weapons at the militia checkpoint located here. Nobody from six employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic, who were at the checkpoint at that moment, has suffered.

            According to one of the local residents, short cross firing happened between attackers and militiamen. After a while, vehicles with assailants left on high speed towards Ingushetia. Who and with what purpose had accomplished the attack on a militia post is not established.

Detentions of citizens

Grozny’s Leninski district

            In the evening on 14 May, on Sunzhenskaya-street of Leninski district of the city of Grozny, workers of local law enforcement bodies detained a young man of about 23 – 25 years. An eyewitness of the incident has provided this information.

The surname of the man and reasons of its detention by law enforcers are being established.

Kotar-Yurt

            According to one of the inhabitants of the village of Kotar-Yurt of Achkhoi-Martanovski district, several days ago employees of power structures conducted here a so-called "address special operation", during which they detained young man. The arrested person was accused by them of aiding and abetting insurgents.

The surname of the man is not provided due to the request of the source.

Republic of Ingushetia

Hotel in Gamurzievo fired at

            On 15 May, in the village of Gamurzievo (Nazran) an unknown man made a shot from a grenade cup discharge on the building of a private hotel "Fortress", which belongs to one of the local residents. Insignificant damage was caused to the building.

The information on the incident is received from inhabitants of the village. No victims and injures are reported this incident.

Attack on militiamen on highway “Kavkaz”

            At night on 15 May, in Sunzhenski district unknown persons made an attack on a checkpoint located on the federal highway "Kavkaz". According to the information, received from an employee of law enforcement bodies of Ingushetia, about 15 persons, which arrived to the post on a truck "KAMAZ", a vehicle of foreign model an a car "Niva", under the threat of physical violence, took away two automatic sub-machines Kalashnikov from militiamen and disappeared.

            Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, who were called for support, tried to organize a pursuit and detain perpetrators. A cross-firing occurred between unknown persons and militiamen, during which an employee of patrol team of Suzhenski police department, the 25-years Dzhanbulat gardanov, was wounded. This information was obtained from a relative of the militiaman, who has suffered in this firing.
