Mass meeting is conducting in Grozny

In Grozny’s Leninski district in front of memorial complex in commemoration of victims of deportation in 1944 is conducting mass meeting of citizens. People gathered here to honor memory about their compatriots; close ones and relatives become victims of arbitrariness.

Tens of women came to this complex with photos of their sons who missed without trace as a result of “mopping up operations” and unauthorized detentions. Representatives of the Chechen Parliament visited the place of meeting conducting. Representatives of human rights and public organizations of the republic are taking part in the mass action. Around 300 people are involved in this meeting. Today collecting signs against informational propaganda which Russian mass-media carry toward the Chechen nation has been started.

As a participant of mass meeting informed, some time ago a vehicle with Russian militaries arrived to the place of action conducting. One of militaries came to the memorial of victims of Stalins’ repressions and another one began to take photos him. A Chechen human rights defender asked a military man “Do you consider that it is feat if you take photo on this background?” “Defender of Fatherland” has quickly retreated. 

Measures of security reinforced in Chechnya

Increased measures of security entered in the Chechen capital. From the morning on 23 February practically at all of crossroads and basic highways directed to Grozny set reinforced shifts of militia and servicemen of force structures. “Force representatives” is conducting select check of transport and passengers and conducting patrolling streets as well.

Increased security measures are entered in connection with next date of mass deportation of the Chechen people and fearing of authorities possible actions of rebels.

“Force representatives” checked transport in Grozny’s Zavodskoi district

According to information received from local residents, in the evening on 22 February in Grozny’s Zavodskoi district at the highway near to Chernorechye settlement servicemen of unstated force structures set mobile check-point. “Force representatives” stopped all route taxi and buses with passengers conducting check of documents.

The bus with students of Grozny higher educational institutions was checked too. There is no reported information about detainees in a result of this action.

Arbitrariness of “force representatives” in Grozny

In the afternoon on 22 February in Grozny a staff of ICRC Adam Ibragimov was detained by servicemen of force structures. Later it became known that he was delivered at the territory of operational-searching bureau # 2 in Staropromislovsi district.

In some time Adam Ibragimov was released. It is unknown what reason for his detention was.      

 “Address mopping up operation” in Valerik

On 22 February in Achkhoi-Martan’s Valerik village Russian military servicemen conducted so called “address mopping up operation”. A local resident informed about it. According to him, militaries visited some houses, checked documents and left. There are no any noticed incidents during conducting of this operation.

Local resident is detained in Kotar-Yurt

As a resident of Achkhoi-Martan’s Koter-Yurt village informed, on 17 February servicemen of local force structures detained 29 year-old Supyan Akaev. Circumstances of his detention are clarifying.
