Cross firing near Bamut village

            According to the information, received from local residents, in the evening on the 28th of January, in the vicinity of the village of Bamut of Achkhoi-Martanovski district there was a cross firing between employees of Russian power structures and a group of unknown persons. As a result of the armed clash, at least, one military was killed, and several servicemen received various wounds. Fighters participated in the clash with militaries managed to disappear in a large forest.

            Inhabitants of Urus-Martanovski district have also informed that during the whole night the artillery of federal forces has practically subjected large forests in the vicinity of several settlements of the district to intensive bombardment. According to some information, in the village of Gekhi shells have destroyed or seriously damaged several houses. The information on the incident is being established.

Three persons detained in Selmentauzen

            On the 27th of January, in the village of Selmentauzen of Vedenski district employees of power structures conducted the so-called "address special operation", during which they detained and took away to unknown direction three local inhabitants. This information was received from villagers of the detainees.

As they said, law enforcers accuse the detainees of aiding and abetting militants. Surnames of the detainees are being established.

Three children suffered in blast in Gudermes

            On the 25th of January, in the town of Gudermes, in one of the private households on Balyevski street a blast has occurred. As a result of it, four persons, including three children were wounded. Later it was established that gas had blown up in the house. The victims were hospitalized to the city hospital.

The information on the incident is received from local resident. Earlier in one of the settlements of the republic, as a result of explosion of gas an employee of militia had suffered as well.

Three militants killed in Nozhai-Yurt district

            On January 19, in the village of Baitarkhi of Nozhai-Yurtovski district, a clash between employees of power structures and a group of militants has occurred. During this firing three participants of armed formations were killed.

            As it became known from an employee of power structures, the killed persons were the inhabitant of Dagestan Ruslan Tuturbekov and two residents of Nozhai-Yurtovski district: Abubakar Datsaev and Lechi Khozhmagomedov. According to the available information, Datsaev was heavily wounded as a result of the skirmish and detained by law enforcers. He died on the way to the hospital. The information on victims among employees of power structures participated in the special operation was not reported.

Additional information

According to the information, received from local residents, on January 27, in the vicinity of the village of Gordali of Nozhai-Yurtovski district a fighting between employees of power structures and a group of militants has occurred. During this clash two law enforcers were killed and two others received wounds.

Later, militaries and militiamen arrived to the area of the clash and conducted a ‘mopping up operation” there. Names of the killed persons as a result of this clash are being established. (Information Release № 1210 dated 28 January 2008).

            One of the persons killed in cross firing with militants in Nozhai-Yurtovski district is the employee of the Chechen militia Tahhir Chalaev. This information was obtained from an inhabitant of Nozhai-Yurt.

Besides, according to the same source, as a result of the clash two more persons - a man and a woman – were killed. Law enforcers informed that the killed persons were militants. Their corpses were found in the vicinity of the village of bas-Gordali.
