Picket ongoing in Grozny
On 28 May, in the center of the city of Grozny, several persons organized a picket, requiring to return their kidnapped and missing relatives. 10 women and one man have taken part in the action. Picketers held in hands sheets of a paper with photos of their kidnapped relatives and a poster with an inscription "Return our sons!" According to official data, in the republic about five thousand people are registered as missing.
Human remains discovered in Vedeno district
In the second half of 28 May, in the vicinity of the high-mountainous village Oktiabrskoye of Vedenski district employees of militia found skeletonized remains of three men. This information was obtained from an inhabitant of the settlement.
According to him, identity of the victims was not established. Local residents consider that they could become victims of extrajudicial punishment.
Several weeks ago a burial place was revealed in Gudermeski district. There were remains of seven persons in the burial, one of which was, presumably, a woman. The, originators of fulfillment of murder were named militaries of the special battalion of GRU "East".
Fighting between militaries and militia near Gudermes
According to the information, received from local residents, in the evening on 26 May, on the outskirts of Gudermes a collision between militaries of the special battalion of GRU (Main Intelligence Directorate) "East" and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic occurred. There is information that militiamen have exposed a mobile post near the base of the special unit and stopped several vehicles with militaries for check.
After that, a group of militaries left the territory of the base aside a mobile checkpoint. They requested militiamen to immediately remove the post and leave this place. Thus, militaries started chaotic shooting to the air and under foot of militiamen and started fight with the latters. According to some information, two employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs suffered during this clash.
Resident of Urus-Martan detained in Grozny
About 2 weeks ago, in the city of Grozny employees of power structures detained a young man, the resident of Urus-Martanovski district. The information on it is received from a friend of the man.
There is information that law enforcers accused the arrested person of belonging to militants. His surname is not provided due to the request of the source.
Chechen student murdered in Krasnodar
Late night on 27 May, in the city of Krasnodar, in the area of micro-district of Yubileiny, a 20-years resident of the Chechen Republic, a student of one of the city’s high schools, was killed. According to the available information, the young man and his friends were attacked by a group of local guys.
During the clash one of the assailants knifed the young man to the neck and the chest. Later the young man died in the hospital from the received wounds. The surname of the victim is being established.

Nationwide meeting planned in Ingushetia
On 6 June, in the cities of Nazran, Magas, Karabulak and the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya of Sunzhenski district large-scale actions of the population to return Ruslan Aushev to the post of the president of republic is planned. This information was obtained from one of the organizers of the planned action.
According to the source, several weeks ago in Ingushetia a process of signatures collection supporting Ruslan Aushev and proposing him to return to the position of a president of the republic.

On May 24, in the village of Yandare of Nazranovski district an unknown person fired at a mobile checkpoint of militia exposed on the federal highway "Kavkaz", presumably, from a sniper rifle. One of the bullets got into an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who was on duty. Fortunately, the latter was in a bulletproof vest, in which the bullet has got stuck.
The assailant managed to escape to unknown direction. Law enforcers failed to cease him. (Information release № 1297 of 28 May 2008).
As it became known today, the captain of militia Alexander Sokolov hardly became the victim of an unknown sniper. The bullet has got into the bulletproof vest, having caused a light trauma to the officer.
