Chairman of CNO Board called to the Prosecutor’s Office

            On February 29, the Chairman of the Board of the Council of nongovernmental organizations (ÑNÎ) Luisa Isaeva received a summon with a requirement to be on the 1st of March in the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the republic. During the conversation the representative of the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested from the head ÑÍÎ to submit all authorized documents of the organization (the charter, registration documents), as well as copies of all current projects of the CNO.

            It is connected with the attempt of the Ministry of Justice of the republic, initiated at the end of last year, to close the organization using the pretext of commitment of several administrative infringements. On the 20th of February, the Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic has made a decision on temporary suspension of investigation on this issue, in connection with that the Ministry of Justice had requested conduction of prosecutor's check of CNO activity. Beside, the conduction of psycho-linguistic examinations of the Bulletin, published by ÑNÎ, on which the Ministry of Justice insists, had been postponed "due to the heavy workload".

Sappers blew off in Grozny

            According to the information, received from inhabitants of the city of Grozny, on the 29th of February, in the area of the so-called "Karpinsky kurgan", on the way of a group of military sappers, a powerful land mine was exploded. The incident occurred at the moment, when militaries were conducting an engineering-research investigation of the district.

            There were no victims, according to people, as a result of the blast of "the infernal machine". The scene of the incident was later surrounded by militaries and employees of militia, who conducted the "cleaning up operation" of the area.

Identity of organizers of the action is not established.

Three persons killed in Altievo

            On the 28th of February, in the village of Altievo of Nazranovski district, in the area of Khamkhoev street, employees of Russian power structures conducted the so-called "special operation". According to local residents, having blocked one of the private houses, law enforcers opened heavy fire from various kinds of weapons.

            As a result of this "special action" a young woman and two men, who were in the house, were killed. At present, only the name of the killed woman is known - Madina Ausheva. According to some information, several months ago she has disappeared under the obscure circumstances in Prigorodny district of the North Ossetia and still considered as a missing person.

            The names of killed men and circumstance of the incident are being established. Meanwhile, law enforcers have announced that the killed persons were participants of armed formations and rendered active armed resistance at the attempt of detention.

Private house fired at in Nazran

            Late night on the 26th of February, on Pionerskaya street in Nazran, unknown persons e fired from a grenade cup discharge at a house, in which Chakhkiev, an employee of the LLC (Limited liability company) "Maltes", lives. This information became known from villagers of Chakhkiev.

As a result of the attack, insignificant damage was caused to the household. No victims and injures were reported in this incident.

The attackers managed to escape to unknown direction. The reason for bombardment of the house in Nazran is not established.

Additional information

According to the information, received from local residents, in the second half of the 27th February, in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya of Sinzhenski district of Ingushetia a soft-skin vehicle “Zhiguli” has blown up on a land mine. There were employees of FSB in that vehicle. The incident occurred on the territory of the local market.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the security officers received wounds of legs. The other two law enforcers, which were in the car, received light traumas and bruises.

The name of the wounded person is being established. (Information release ¹ 1233 of 28 February 2008). Today it became known, that, as a result of the incident in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, the officer of FSB Andrey Kozhenko was wounded.
