Detentions of citizens

Shatoy district

As it became known from an inhabitant of Shatoy district, on the previousa day members of local power structures detained a 43-years man and took him away to unknown direction. There is information that law enforcers accused the arrested person of belonging to insurgents.

The circumstances of the incident and the name of the arrested person are being established.

Grozny

On 1 July, in Staropromyslovski district of the city of Grozny, during conduction of a regular “special operation”, workers of the local police department and Russian militaries detained a young man of about 32 - 33 years. The information on this incident was received from a resident of Grozny.

According to him, the arrested person was an inhabitant of Achkhoi-Martanovski district. The reason for his detention is unknown.

Vedeno district

On June 28, in Vedenski district, in a large forest near one of the villages, law enforcers conducted a cleaning up operation of the area, during which they detained two young men (names are being established). According to one of the inhabitants of Vedenski district, "observers of law and order" have severely beaten both of the men and have taken them to unknown direction.

Since the middle of June of the current year, in Vedenski and Nozhai-Yurtovski district of the republic "special operation" to search for insurgents have been under way. Probably, young men, arrested on 28 June, were suspected in belonging to law militants.

Additional information

At night on June 29, in the village of Elistanzhi of Vedenski district a group of unknown persons subjected to bombardment from small arms a building, in which a local police department is situated. This information is received from inhabitants of this settlement.

According to the people, firing proceeded for about 20 minutes. As a result of then attack, the officer of the battalion of special Internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "South" and one of the local residents were killed. One more military of the division "South" was wounded.

Assailants managed to escape to unknown direction. (Information Release № 1321 of 1 July 2008).

Today the name of one of the killed persons was obtained. He is an officer of the battalion "South", the captain Khamad Chataev. The surname of the perished local resident is being established.

Republic of North Ossetia-Alania

Refugees remained without gas and electricity supply.

            As it became known from a representative of displaced people from Prigorodny district of the republic, several days ago in the newly established settlement of Novy people have serious problems with electric supply. Former inhabitants of villages of Prigorodny district of North Ossetia reside there, (they were compelled to leave the houses after tragic events of autumn 1992) and they had lack of gas supply for a long time. In opinion of people, local authorities artificial create intolerable conditions for residing.

Appeals of refugees to representatives of authorities with the request to resolve their problems are simply ignored. Meanwhile, it was said earlier that in case of "voluntary-compulsory resettlement" to Novy from Prigorodny district refugees would receive all conditions necessary for normal life.

Republic of Ingushetia

In Yandare houses of militiamen fired at

            According to the information, received from an inhabitant of the village of Yandare of Nazranovski district, on the night of June 26, unknown persons fired at a house belonging to employees of local Ministry of Internal Affairs. In particular, the house of an employee of republican Department of fight against crime was subjected to attack.

Attackers managed to escape. Their searches undertaken by workers of power departments have not given any results.

The information on victims and injures are not available for the time being.
