Local resident of Grozny suffered due to fault of militiamen

            According to inhabitants of one of the micro-district of the city of Grozny, late night on the 4^th March due to the fault of employees of republican militia a man living in one of the apartment houses was heavily wounded. According to the people, two of "observers of law and order", who were drunk, organized shooting from automatic weapons.

            As a result of the chaotic shooting, one of the local residents received a gunshot wound and was hospitalized in grave condition. The surname of the victim is being established. According to some information, the drunken militiamen were later detained by their colleagues, which arrived to the scene due to the request of local residents.

Arbitrariness of law enforcers in Grozny

            On the night of March 2, in Staropromyslovski district of the city of Grozny employees of unidentified power structures moving on several vehicles attacked the house rented by the head of the "North-Caucasus peace-making center" Aset Malsagova. According to the available information, assailants have severely beaten up a woman and two young men, who were guests of Malsagovs family.

            Law enforcers took way the beaten up men to unknown direction. The detainees were thrown out by them on a road. The reason for such inadequate actions from representatives of power departments towards the well-known head of the human rights organization and her visitors is unknown.

Local resident detained in Gudermes

            According to the information, received from local residents, on the 2nd of March at the railway station of Gudermes employees of local law-enforcement structures detained and took away to unknown direction a young man. The circumstances of the incident and the surname of the arrested person are being established.

According to some information, the arrested person was brought a "standard" charge against in belonging to insurgents.

Republic of Ingushetia

New protest action planned in Nazran

            Representatives of the opposition in Ingushetia plan to conduct another large-scale protest action on the 12th of March in Nazran. This information was obtained from friends of one of the organizers of the action.

            The previous mass meeting, which was planned for 26th of January in Nazran, was dispersed by employees of power structures. Later, one of the organizers of this action, Maksharip Aushev was kidnapped by employees of power structures and taken to Nalchik, where he is still kept in the pre-trial detention center.
