Attack on OMON employees in Grozny

            On December 31, in the city of Grozny, in the area of Iosiniani street, an unknown person opened a fire from an automatic weapon at a vehicle "UAZ" driven by an officer of the Chechen OMON (Special Task Police team). The militiaman was hospitalized with heavy wounds and later died in the hospital.

The assailant managed to escape. The attempt to detain him on “hot heels” has failed.

Militia officer killed in Grozny

            In the morning on December 27, near the house no. 5 on Sadovaya street in Leninski district of the city of Grozny, local residents found a corpse of the employee of militia with signs of violent death. According to eyewitnesses, the militiaman had got several shots to the head.

            Later, identity of the killed person was established. It was the 27-years Bekkhan Simbarigov, the assistant to the commander of private guards division of Leninski district. Identity of murderers is not established. The reason for extrajudicial punishment above Simbarigov is unknown.

Chechen resident detained in Bishkek

            In the end of December in the city of Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) employees of law enforcement bodies had detained a resident of the Chechen Republic. This information was obtained from an inhabitant of Grozny.

The reason for detention of the man is unknown. The surname of the arrested person is not provided due to the request of the source.

Detentions of citizens

Dyshne-Vedeno

            On January 3, in the village of Dyshni-Vedeno of Vedenski district, during conduction of the so-called "address special operation", workers of power structures detained two local residents. The information on it is received from villagers of the arrested persons.

Both detainees are young men of about 18-20 years. According to some information, law enforcers accused them of aiding and abetting militants.

Shali district

            On December 31, near the village of Shali employees of militia detained a young man, who was driving a car of "Zhiguli". This information was provided by eyewitnesses of the incident.

At present, the only available information is that the arrested person was an inhabitant of Dagestan. The reasons of his detention and the surname of the man are being established.

Katayama settlement

            On December 30, in the settlement of Katayama of Staropromyslovski district employees of local power structures detained a 24-years local resident (the surname is being established). According to the available information, a "standard" charge in belonging to militants was brought against the detainee.

Republic of Ingushetia

Vehicle with militaries shot down in Nazranovski district

            According to the information, received from local residents, in first half of the 27th of December, in Nazranovski district, on a road between the village of Surkhakhi and Ali-Yurt, unknown persons attacked an armored vehicle "UAZ", in which there were militaries - frontier guards. As a result of the attack, two officers were killed. Two soldiers inside the "UAZ" received wounds of various degrees and were hospitalized.

            The attacked disappeared to unknown direction. Their searches undertaken by employees of law-enforcement structures have not given any results. Surnames of the deceased persons are being established.
