Fighting near Komsomolskoye

            On 6 May, in a large forest near the village of Komsomolskoye of Urus-Martanovski district a clash between servicemen of federal forces and a group of militants occurred. According to the information received from local residents, during the firing automatic weapons and grenade cup discharges were used.

            Later, additional military and militia divisions were sent to the area of the fighting, and this area was searched. However, law enforcers failed to find a trace of insurgents, which managed to disappear in a large forest. The information on victims and casualties among participants of the clash is not reported.

Remains of man’s body revealed near Gudermes

            According to the information received from inhabitants of the town of Gudermes, on the previous day, on the waste ground located approximately in two kilometers from the building of the city hospital a semi-decomposed body of a man with attributes of violent death was found. According to eyewitness, traces of bullet wounds were seen on the back of the killed person. There were unfastened handcuffs on one of the hands.

Presumably, the killed person was a military man of the battalion of special troops of GRU (main intelligence directorate of the Russian General Staff) "East", who had disappeared several years ago under unknown circumstances. His surname is being specified.

Russian militiaman murdered in the suburbs of Grozny

            On 4 May, on the highway Grozny - Argun, near the military base Khankala, an unknown person moving in a car of "Zhiguli" fired from automatic weapon at two vehicles «UAZ», in which there were employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs sent to the republic from other regions of Russia. As a result of the attack, one of the drivers of "UAZ" has been killed. No other victims and casualties were reported in this incident.

            The killed person, the foreman of militia Dmitry Kuznetsov, according to the information, received from an employee of law enforcement bodies of the Chechen Republic, has been sent to the republic from Kareliya. Assailants managed to escape to unknown direction. Their searches undertaken by workers of law enforcement bodies were ineffectual.

Additional information

            According to the information, received from inhabitants of the town of Gudermes, on the previous day in several kilometers of the town, employees of law enforcement bodies found a place of mass burial of killed citizens. At least, skeletons of six persons were revealed in the territory of the former biochemical factory in Gudermes. When and what circumstances these people had been killed is unknown. (Information Release № 1281 of 6 May 2008).

            According to some information, among victims of extra judicial punishment, whose remains have been found in Gudermeski district, there was an inhabitant of Kurchaloiski district of the republic, born in 1974, who disappeared three years ago under the obscure circumstances. There is information that militaries of the battalion of special troops "East" are suspected of fulfillment of this crime.

Arbitrariness of law enforcers in Plievo

            According to the information, received from local residents, on 5 May, in the village of Plievo of Nazranovski district employees of local power structures, during carry out of namaz (praying), detained and delivered to the city department of militia three parishioners of the local mosque. There is information that law enforcers, wearing masks, arrived on several vehicles of various marks without plates, burst into the mosque located on Oskanov-street and, having interrupted the praying, demanded to tell them, who were owners of vehicles parked at the mosques. Then, without providing any explanations, they detained and delivered to militia’s city department in Nazran three men: Khamzat Gardanov and Yusuf Pliev, inhabitants of Plievo, and also a resident of Malgobekski district Murad Albakov. During this "special operation", militiamen had completely blocked the street adjoining to the mosque and movement of transport on a road taking to Nazran.

Later, arrested persons were released. Parishioners of the mosque were indignant by the fact that militiamen, who had rushed into the mosque’s building were in dirty footwear, behaved extremely roughly and freely, that offends feelings of believers.

Militaries fired at near Surkhakhi

            In the second half of 4 May, on the highway between settlements of Surkhkhi and Yandare of Nazranovski district three unknown persons moving in cars of "UAZ" and "Niva" fired from automatic weapons at a military column, which was passing on the road. This information became known from an inhabitant of Yandare.

According to some information, as a result of the attack, one serviceman of federal forces was wounded. Assailants managed to escape towards Yandare. Later, cars thrown by them were found in a large forest between these settlements. Law enforcers failed to detain unknown persons.
