Statistics of murders and abductions in Chechnya for June  2006

 

Situation in the Chechen Republic for last month was the same complicated as for previous time. Facts of human rights violations at the territory of the Chechen Republic have still unlimited character.    

Information about murders, abductions, disappearing, detentions and unauthorized arrests of citizens are incoming practically every day. And it happens at that time when local and Russian authorities continue to declare that “situation in Chechnya has been fully stabilized” and “process of peaceful restoring is going” in the republic at full speed.

As well as before many citizens became victims of arbitrariness and violations from the side of servicemen of force structures prefer to not made happened incident public fearing worse consequences, as for themselves, as for family members. Meanwhile, murders, kidnappings, disappearing, arrests and unauthorized captures of citizens happen practically daily.      

Became oftener for the last time “mopping up operations” in settlements and “special operations” of different sort conducted by representatives of Russian and local force structures give particular concern of people. Increased number of servicemen of law-enforcement structures at streets of cities and large settlements, numerous “mobile check-points” set at motorways also are not cause for people’s optimism. Rumors about forthcoming escalation of war actions at the Chechen territory with all circumstances are actively circulating in the republic.    

 

According to data obtained by the Informational Center of CNO and issued in our informational bulletins, 20 people (including 2 women) were killed at territory of the Chechen Republic under different circumstances for June. 10 ones out of them were servicemen of force structures.

Moreover, a burial place with skeletons of 9 remains of unidentified people was found in outskirt of Chozhi-Choo village.    

 

8 people were killed in the Republic of Ingushetia, including the commander of the republican OMON (militia unit of special purpose) and his 3 underage children.

 

7 people (2 out of them are women) were abducted in Chechnya for the same time term. Besides, 2 men disappeared under obscure circumstances

2 cases of such sort are marked in Ingushetia.

 

73 people (including 4 women) were detained with charge with perpetration of different types of crimes in Chechnya in June.  According to available by present information, just 1 person was released.

2 men were detained in Ingushetia.

        

In addition, in June not less 15 “mopping up operations” conducted by Russian militaries and local “force representatives” were fixed at the territory of Chechnya.

So-called “large-scale” and “selected” operations of such sort conducted in different Grozny’s districts and other settlements of the republic includes in this number.
