Statistics on murders and abductions in June 2007

In June the general situation in the Chechen Republic remained complicated. Unauthorized detentions, murders, abductions, disappearances of citizens under the obscure circumstances and other crimes related to human rights still continue to take place.

The majority of the citizens, victims of arbitrariness of representatives of power structures as well as relatives of detained or abducted people, as before, are afraid to make public incidents, fearing for the safety of their relatives.

As local residents note, recently the number of fightings and attacks on militaries and workers of various power structures has increased in the republic. The number of different “special operations” conducted by militaries in different districts of the republic has increased as well.

The situation around the camps of internally displaced people has considerably become aggravated. The intention of authorities to liquidate all TACs by the end of this year led to the situation that officials of various levels force the IDPs to release premises occupied by them. Such cases took place in TACs of Grozny and Argun.

According to the information, received by the Information center of CNO and published in our information releases, in June of this year on the territory of the Chechen Republic 12 persons are killed and died under various circumstances. Among them are 5 employees of power structures, two participants of the armed formations and the woman who died due to the fault of militaries. Two men became victims of the extra judicial execution,

During the same period in Ingushetia 4 persons, including a young girl, are killed.

In June in Chechnya 9 persons are abducted and disappeared under the obscure circumstances.

One local resident disappeared in Ingushetia.

Employees of power structures detained and arrested 43 persons in various areas of the Chechen Republic on suspicion in committing various crimes, including a former employee of power departments and a woman. Some of the arrested persons were released later.

In Ingushetia 1 person was detained.

During the same period in Chechnya militaries and employees of various power structures conducted about five "mopping up operations" and "special operations".

Besides that, during the same period in the Chechen Republic about 6 fightings between employees of power structures and participants of armed formations and 4 attacks on militaries and militiamen took place. Thus, both parties had killed and wounded people.

In the neighboring Ingushetia 4 attacks on employees of force structures are accomplished.
