Statistics on killing and abductions in November 2006

In November the situation on the territory of the Chechen Republic continued to remain complex the last month and far from the stabilization. November month has been noted in the republic with some burst of activity of the militants, especially in the mountain part of Chechnya. At the beginning of November the column of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Mordovia was available attacked, as a result of some servicemen were killed and wounded.

Not less activity was shown by militaries as well. According to information, received from residents of some settlements of the south part of the republic, the long-range artillery and aircraft of the federal forces intensively saturated the outskirts of settlements and mountain-forest area in Vedenski, Shalinski, Shatoiski and some other mountain districts.

Loss of life and murders of the people, the continuous kidnappings, unsanctioned arrests and detention of citizens, including those under the various far-fetched pretexts and forged charges, appliance by employees of various force structures of tortures to arrested persons with the purpose of obtaining of necessary testimonies and other issues related to infringements of the human rights and freedom are still one of the main problems in Chechnya nowadays. 

          According to information, received by the Information center of CNO and published in our information bulletins, in November on territory of the Chechen Republic in different circumstances died and were killed 12 persons (among them the young man who had fallen as a victim of extra judicial execution by "security officials", the adult woman and the 12-years girl). Among died people there are also 2 employees of the republican power structures. Two persons died, blasting on a mine.

           In Ingushetia a woman became a victim of extra judicial punishment by unknown persons. Also, in Ingushetia as a result of explosion on a land mine the teenager has been severely wounded.

In the course of the same period in the republic 2 young girls of 17 and 20- years were kidnapped. Besides, in the city of Vladikavkaz (Northn Ossetia) under the obscure circumstances two young men, residents of the Chechen Republic, have disappeared.

           In November on territory of the Chechen Republic 42 persons have been detained and arrested on suspicion of committing different offences. Among them are one woman and one resident of Ingushetia. Several people out of the detained number have been released later.

          Moreover, according to available information, in November the Russian militaries repeatedly bombarded from artillery and air the edges of the settlements in the mountain part of the republic.
